Yes. There are snakes at the refuge. I did not see them, thankfully. Check with the naturalists at the visitor's center so you are informed and know what to look out for. There are …

Yes. There are snakes at the refuge. I did not see them, thankfully. Check with the naturalists at the visitor's center so you are informed and know what to look out for. There are seemingly an infinite number of snake species, and without knowing which are hazardous, and which are native to the area, it is all just a guess. Unless- you are as well-informed as they are. It is truly a beautiful area, especially for enjoying nature. That being said, please be informed and stay safe! Enjoy your trip!

We went twice in early evening, hen the park is free to enter, the walk can be as long or short as you wish and we were able to see quite a few animals which would be interesting for children. The trolley ride is probably more suited to adults
