THE lighthouse to ring in the new year. We watched the sunrise on Jan 1 at this lighthouse in 2025. About 40 other people were there. Plenty of free parking (gravel)! Full review by optoutside2829

It was totally open trails picnic are, bathrooms etc. not too busy and there is just a drop box to pay fees. There isn’t much open around for food. Lubec was a ghost town
I am making my first visit to Maine next week, traveling from NC. Staying in Bar Harbor so this lighthouse is a couple hours away. Are there any other worthwhile attractions, restaurants or sights to see in the area of West Quoddy Lighthouse?

If you are getting that far up, there is Lubec for harbor; but more than that, there is Campobello Island, but it is in Canada. Probably need passport but our hotel said they send people over for the day without one. There is a wonderful light there called Head Harbour light (also known as East Quoddy), but it is only accessible at low tide and not easily. Does this help?

Not on a routine basis, but there is a special open lighthouse day when that is possible and easily searched online. Nearby on Campobello Island in Canada is East Quoddy Light. You can walk to it only during low tide. Another great place to visit!
