Before we got to the caves we got to admire a few of the hundreds of iguanas living locally. We were visiting off season so it was very quiet. Caves are amazing with one pictogram in particular stic… Full review by 914alasdairp

The caves are in a well maintained park. Entrance fee is 300 DR, well worth it. Our guide was friendly, and fairly informative, though I would have liked more information about the Taino people and… Full review by WanderlustGita

Lots of steps to get into cave and the same again for exit, so if you have issues with motability this could be an issue for you. The tour guide we had was not very informative at all. Just rally w… Full review by Pandabuddie
It looks like the caves are far from altos de chavon. We are planning on taking a taxi but are they easy to get at the caves to the altos de chavon and then again to the port?

When you get there. The caves are very close to the parking lot. Even very small children could walk it. Hope that answers your question. :)
1. How much was it in pesos per adult and child? 2. Do we need to reserve? We are going to have a rental car so will drive ourselves there. 3. Most importantly, is it scary / dark for the kids? My little one is scared of darkness and bats. Thank you in advance

It's $10 USD but we were charged 400 Dominican pesos each which I realize is less when you convert it. No need to reserve but they do hold off sometimes for a larger group to assemble for the tour. We were quoted a 30 minute wait for the next group. Bats do not like light and wake up with loud sound. You are allowed to use a flashlight or your phone to look into crevices but be careful not to make any loud sounds or shine lights towards very dark corners of the cave (usually the ceiling) you might wake the bats and they will come flying out.
