We did not stay here, but we went with them to dive the Liberty Shipwreck and their service was amazing! They were very professional, helped us get fitted with our rental equipment, and we had a grea… Full review by Samantha B

Been to Bali many times but had never dived the wreck prior. We were diving the nearby slope early morning and noticed few bubbles so decided this was our day. Its pretty vast and spread out and suit… Full review by macfod

I'm PADI OW certified with 50 dives, half in Indonesia, and this was my first wreck dive. Wow, did Liberty exceed expectations! It's not some drab steel hulk....it's absolutely covered in coral and f… Full review by geofgivens
Hi, I want to know if this dive site is safe now with the last frequent eruptions of the Agung. We will be in Amed next week and we would like to dive there. Thanks

Yes yes! Giant Bumpheads. Also on night dives I saw giant morays hunting in open water, like falling strips of cloth in the wind. Amazing
Im planing on traveling in may between 22nd-31st, traveling alone, do i need to book in advance or can book after i land there?

Is this location a year round dive site? I am scheduled to travel to Bali 30 DEC, 2018 - 2 Jan, 2019. I am currently PADI Open Water and Advanced Certified, would those certifications work? I am interested in doing either an afternoon dive or a possible night dive on the 30th. Is this possible? If so what is the water temp and what gear is required or recommended, I have only dived in Guam and Okinawa Islands, And normally do not wear a wet suit, would like to know if I would need to bring my 3MM wet suit. What equipment do you rent, I currently have everything but a regulator but trying to decide if I should bring my own equipment or rent.

All three above have answered about the year round thing- thermal protection is a personal thing. I wore a 3mm shortie but then I get cold and was fine whereas others were diving in shorts and rash vest. What I would echo though is the site is no longer as stunning as you may imagine. It’s good, but can be massively crowded and viz can be degraded by the surf. As far as gear, I brought my own, but in hindsight would have been better to rent. I don’t have a fancy rig so could have saved weight and had an easier trip for not much extra - gear rental is cheap and gear where we dives (Bali Reef Divers) was good. My only other worry about your trip is the time it will take to get to and from Tulamben. You say your arriving on the 30th and leaving on the 2nd, which only gives a two day window to dive. Assuming you are flying in the airport is probably 4 hours+ from Tulamben, longer if traffic is bad. If you’re staying in the south lots of dive shops offer Liberty trips but leave early doors and get back late so you’ll spend the best part on the day on the road for two dives. Might be worth looking into diving of Lembongan - given you are AOW and it’s much closer - 40 minutes by boat from Sanur
Is is possible to acces the USS liberty without dive guide? As we are advanced certified divers, we would really like to try to explore the dive site by ourselves!

Hi Nadine, Yes you can dive it without a guide...we do it often. My only reservation would be you will miss so much if you are only there for a short time...how long spending there?? My advice would be use a guide on your first dive for orientation and finding where most sea life is and then go back in on your own. Are you underwater photographers and what do you usually like to photograph?? We use Matahari Dive Resort at Tulamben and they will arrange for the porters to carry your cylinder to the site for you. The wreck varies from about 5M deep to 30M. The eel garden on the top of the wreck is worth seeing.
