We got on from Silverton. We exited through Ouray. I would suggest NOT doing the road from Ouray to the loop unless you have a short wheelbase 4x4 with a lift. The rest can be …
We got on from Silverton. We exited through Ouray. I would suggest NOT doing the road from Ouray to the loop unless you have a short wheelbase 4x4 with a lift. The rest can be done in pretty much any stock 4x4 but a long wheelbase truck will be harder.

If traveling this year 2019 definitely Lake City. Silverton's usual route to Animas Forks and the loop is closed because of an avalanche this winter. Lake City is easy on and you can …
If traveling this year 2019 definitely Lake City. Silverton's usual route to Animas Forks and the loop is closed because of an avalanche this winter. Lake City is easy on and you can complete the entire loop from there. You can do the same from Ouray but depending on driving experience the drive up to get to Engineer and Cinnamon can be a bit challenging.
