So yes it's a rock formation in the shape of an arch. Nothing really special about it. I'm not sure why it's the number one thing to do on the island. If you only have a limited amount of time and y… Full review by Gregory S

This is a beautiful sight to see. Wear comfortable shoes it is 207 steps to get to the Arch and do take pictures. If you rent a bike you can park at the bottom of the steps. Full review by T3137CGlindab

I'm thinking about sending my 16 year old kid and his girlfriend there for a day trip away from the parents. Is he going to be barred from any activities because he's under 18 without an adult? He tried to camp at a state park before and they wouldn't let him pitch a tent unaccompanied by an adult.

I don't think the things on the island actually open until May, and the other reviewer is correct that it seems like Memorial Day is the time it really kicks off. Keep in mind that they still get snow in April since they are so far north. I belong to a Mackinac Island FB group and it is still quite cold on the island with some floating ice in the lake off shore. I don't think there's hardly anything on the island, with the exception of a few bars and the local market. If possible, I would try to move your trip back to May or June.
