My visit was pre-booked for Layer Marney Tower. On arrival the place looked like a private residence and it took me some time to find the entrance for the public which is in the corner directly oppos… Full review by Hillary S

Layer Marney Tower is an old building, made by craftsmen and must be maintained with skill. It is never in a perfect state of repair and can not be repaired in the same way as a modern house built with modern materials. We work with specialist suppliers and craftspeople to “do a proper job”.

We have gravel and York Stone paths and a cobbled courtyard. The Tea Room, Gift Shop, Long Gallery and Church have ramps if there are steps. The Tower itself is not accessible …

We have gravel and York Stone paths and a cobbled courtyard. The Tea Room, Gift Shop, Long Gallery and Church have ramps if there are steps. The Tower itself is not accessible as there are 99 steps. However, pl note we are closed to general visitors until 20 March 2016
