Lots of beautiful scenery and you definitely have to keep driving when you think you see a pretty view. Best to stop at the gorge for photos and hiking, bathroom break. It’s absolutely stunning. Keep… Full review by emh43016

It’s a don’t miss if you enjoy mountain scenery. It’s a nice drive and since we went in the fall we had some foliage. It’s a bit of a drive and the weather can rapidly change. Full review by Yetanotherroadtrip

Ok, so I might not be the best person to answer. We tend to spend many hours and long days when road tripping. The day we did North Cascades we drove to Leavenworth for the night. At the Bavarian Lodge. Be prepared for spotty or no phone signal. All over the state. We downloaded the National Parks maps before, luckily because there’s no service. If you are also going to Olympic, there’s a road closure, that had horrible signage and no cell service. The detour road brings you out 3 miles from the other end of construction. You’ll miss a ton of sights. There’s back roads that will get you around the construction past the good stuff. Ask a local. We made this mistake. I’m serious the detour was over 2 hours, that’s why we didn’t go back. It was a bridge, so possibly construction could be finished. We generally stay as Best Western. We don’t need amenities because we usually arrive after dinner and leave after breakfast. If we’re staying at the beach or a few days we’ll stay somewhere nicer.
We would like to do several days of hiking, but we don't want to camp on this trip.Where is the best/most convenient lodging close to the park with good access to the best hiking trails? Thanks.

Not sure without looking it up. We camped, or backpacked in during most of the time we spent hiking.
If we are not planning to do any major hiking, is it still worthwhile to visit the park from Seattle and spend the night there?

You can see lots of neat stuff on the shorter hikes. Also the drive in the park is beautiful with several pull offs to see some beautiful views. I would do it. We loved it there.
