This is a beautiful memorial in a very appropriate location. It was emotional seeing the sailor names and ship history on the plinthes, an essential part of the memorial. The seagulls and the reason… Full review by 399JohnN

It looks good and information around the place helps you understand why it is a memorial. Got there to do the free tour BUT there was a bus load of pensioners that had arrived and the tour guide spok… Full review by Crawfom

We stayed at the Abrolhos Reef Lodge a few minutes down the highway at Tarcoola Beach. It was clean, comfortable and very nice. The room we stayed in was quite spacious and the staff friendly and accommodating. It was good value for a 3 star motel. I would be happy to stay there again.
I'm coming in from a cruise ship for a few hours and would love to do the free tour of the HMAS Sydney. Obviously I won't have a car but is there somewhere near to the port to join in on a free tour that takes you there or is it best to take a taxi and find your own way there and hopefully there will be a tour guide up at the memorial that you can join in with? Thanks in advance

I don't know about taxis, but we walked (and we're in our late 60s/70s). We were given directions by a local volunteer. It is an uphill walk and took about 15 mins. Tour guides were available at the memorial and we were really impressed with the service.
would please tell me the address/location of the HMAS Sydney Memorial, Thanks

Hi Kevin, From the townsite in Geraldton it's a fair walk and uphill, so driving there or taking the local bus would be preferable. You'll be able to see it from almost anywhere in town and there's lots of signage. The actual address is at the top of Gummer Street and it's easy to find. Once there you'll be glad you went there, as it's a great site to visit for many different reasons.
