The Lightship Columbia was fa floating lighthouse. It marked the mouth of the Columbia River for nearly 30 years, from 1951 to 1979. I never realized that there was such a thing as a lightship. Full review by Kathy D

The museum displayed fascinating history about the Columbia River, Coast Guard rescue boats and operations, hundreds of ship wrecks, and the City Of Astoria. We really enjoyed both the museum and the… Full review by Michael M

Hi How much time would you say I should allow for a visit to this museum? How long were the movie your referenced? We have to catch a 5 PM flight out of Portland the day we have in Astoria. Thanks. Gwen
A:
We were there for an hour and a half—max you’d need is 2 hours.
Is this a self guided tour? Our schedule is somewhat tight. Approximate time to go through the museum and ship?
A:
You can go at your own pace. One could easily spend hours here, but you can also get a taste of what's there in 60-90 minutes. A bit rushed, but possible.
Is the shuttle associated with the cruise ship....so you have to take the cruise ship tour or is it provided by the museum? Is there a charge for the shuttle?
A:
The trolley stops at the museum. It is $1 for one ride or $2 all day.
