The place is one of the areas historic attractions. I believe its worth buying the ticket if first time visiting the area. Great place for shooting gorgeous photos weather permitted. Full review by 569navaf

Hi Helen S., thank you for your question. The responses you've received are correct - Castle admission is required to go up to the 1914 Lucknow mansion (the "Castle"). While there are no trails that lead to the Castle, there are trails that provide wonderful views of it from afar. A visitor favorite is the Oak Ridge Trail. We hope you enjoy a trip here soon!

Yes backpack carrier is fine they have several triails ask Them which one is the best when you pay.

I am not sure. At the main gate I paid for admission to go and tour the castle. My son and his wife wanted to hike Mt. Roberts which is also on the grounds and I paid for them to tour the castle but they never got back from hiking earlier enough to tour the castle. I will call them to ask that question as I plan to hike Mt. Roberts someday too without touring the castle. I will respond when I get the answer.
