No, Castle Rock is on the South side of the lake. The PCT comes over Onyx Summit, continues to head north until it eventually turns west after Baldwin Lake, and then it follows the north rim of the valley, on the north side of the lake.

Yep, but bring leashes, water, and some food for them. It’s a rough trail at parts so always be prepared to haul them back to the car if need be.
