A wonderful lantern festival in Aomori. Long wide lanterns, vibrant chanting and a great atmosphere. A great thing to do in Summer in Aomori. Full review by Mans71
How many floats 5 or 6 went out on the sea/ocean on August 7 2019? Are these floats illuminated with candles or lights when on the water? We were on our cruise ship (it was hard to see the floats from so far away--the fireworks were fantastic). Thank you.

There were 5 floats illuminated with lights with the drummers and pipers and singers surrounding the floats. The fireworks were right on top of them- the crowds were cheering and it was quite an atmosphere by the harbour. They must have had some microphones/speakers as you could easily here each float. We walked back to the ship and STILL saw the end of the fireworks! They went on forever.

Yes, the town prepares some temporary public toilet booths near the parade routes. You can also use some hotels' and restaurants' offered to the public. You will find the billboards showing the location or ask the guardsmen or volunteers, they can tell you it even if they do not speak English. You can easily communicate with them with gesture and saying just "toilet". Good luck !!!

Usually the town offer the seats only for the group consisting over 10 people at their home page. I hope you can also access their home page. Japanese tour companies like JTB, and Club Tourism offer Bus tours including hotel accommodation and view seats. This is my personal opinion, but you may enjoy the parade even if you do not have the reserved seats. Moving along with your favorite float is fun.
